If clients have ovarian cysts (functional and non functional) what should/shouldn’t we do re   hand reflexology homework?

There is a difference between functional and non functional cysts therefore treatment will differ, Functional cysts will disrupt the cycle so you will need to keep the cycle on track and make sure that they are ovulating by using the week 2 protocol.  Do not give out homework for cysts.  For Non Functional cysts you would need to find out what kind of cyst they might be i.e. dermoid cysts, are they causing pain? If so you can sedate the ovary uterus point. The issue needs to be resolved before your client tries to get pregnant.

If a client has a variety of fertility issues, which protocol is used?

Firstly, it is important to treat the issue that is causing the most symptoms, use the Repro -Assessment for this and ask questions. For instance if a client had endometriosis and PCOS and was not ovulating work with the PCOS first. Treat the condition followed by the Weekly protocol.

What homework do you give for assisted cycles?

We rarely recommend homework during assisted cycles – exception would be for a client whose endometrium was not thickening and or if she had very few follicles. Work the Pituitary/ovary reflexes together but no more than 3 x a day and you need to keep in touch with your client and her scan results.

I need help interpreting Bllod works?

Remember you will always have the reference ranges relating to the clinic or hospital where your client is being tested. You are taught about this in Part One and In Part Two you are given an information sheet on AMH and Antral Follicle count. Everything is in your notes.  IF you are still unsure about this it may be wise to do a Refresher Course – see the Seren Website for dates.  If you join in the Q and A sessions you also learn from other members cases.

Should a client with low AMH levels be given homework?

If your client has a low AMH and they are undertaking a cycle of IVF, you can support them with Reflexology and suggest they supplement with Co-Q10 3 x 200mg dailey, and DHEA 3 x 25g dailey.  If they are not ovulating because their ovarian reserve is low, they can use homework before they undergo ART.
